In the most challenging rugby matches, players must be aware of every situation and be ready to react to anything their opponents may throw at them.
In order to improve their ever-changing skills, players need new initiatives to test their reactions. That's why Gilbert has worked with Richie Gray, former Springboks, Blitzbokke, Scotsman and current coach of Montpellier, to design the best catch/pass system to increase players' awareness and skill level.
Available individually for the first time, the Control-A-Balls each have a slightly different behavior. The balls included are: match, light, heavy, no grip and unstable. Using these different balls at different times before using a standard ball met challenges the player and improves their responsiveness in match situations.
Control-A-Balls are available in size 5.

Each ball comes uninflated and should be inflated to 9-10 psi for optimal performance. The unstable ball will also need to be filled with water. Below is a guide on how to do this.
Guide to preparing unstable balloons
- Inflate the balloon normally, as described above.
- Place the balloon in a sink and, making sure the inflation needle is attached to the pump, unscrew the handle so you can pour water into the pump.
- Working quickly and over the sink, pour the water into the pump, screw the handle on and insert the needle into the balloon valve.
- Press the handle to push water into the bladder; repeat this process until you have added 280 grams of water to the balloon (about 3 full pumps).
Tips:Try not to overfill the balloon. If you have added too much water, you can remove it by inserting the inflation needle into the valve (as you would to deflate it) and holding the balloon over a sink, with the needle at the bottom of the balloon, and gently squeezing the balloon to remove some water. Then check the weight and continue.
