From the Tri-Nations of 1996 to the four-nation Rugby Championship
The Tri-Nations was born in 1996, at the start of the professional era, between New Zealand, South Africa, and Australia. In 2012, the arrival of Argentina turned it into the Rugby Championship, held annually, usually between August and September.
