Our New Zealand page brings together the All Blacks kit signed by adidas: the black home shirt in supporter version, its Performance version tailored like that of the players, the kids' shirt, and the matching black shorts. The perfect gear to wear the silver fern at the stadium, in front of a test match, or at the club, along with our insights on the history and traditions of New Zealand rugby.

Rugby, the religion of a country.

From the 1905 tour to the Auckland victories in 1987 and 2011

The nickname of the All Blacks emerged during the Originals tour in 1905 and 1906: thirty-five matches in Great Britain, Ireland, France and North America, with just one defeat, in Cardiff against Wales. The very first test match in the history of the French XV was actually played against them, on January 1, 1906, at Parc des Princes. On the world stage, New Zealand won the first World Cup in 1987 by beating France in the final in Auckland, repeated the feat in the same city and against the same opponent in 2011, and then in 2015, at Twickenham, became the first nation to retain its title.

Ka Mate and Kapa o Pango, the two hakas of the All Blacks

Before each test match, the All Blacks face their opponent for the haka, a Māori ritual dance led by a designated player. The best-known one, Ka Mate, is attributed to Te Rauparaha, chief of the Ngāti Toa tribe, who is said to have composed it around 1820 after escaping from pursuers. In August 2005, in Dunedin against South Africa, the team unveiled the Kapa o Pango, written for them, which celebrates the silver fern and the black jersey; it remains reserved for the most important matches. The French have often answered the challenge: in 2007 in Cardiff, wearing tricolour t-shirts, they advanced to within inches of the New Zealanders, and in 2011 they crossed the halfway line in a arrow formation.

Supporter jersey, Performance or child: choosing your black attire

The home jersey of the All Blacks is made by adidas, partner of the New Zealand federation since 1999, and comes in two cuts. The supporter version, more baggy, is easily worn over a t-shirt on match nights. The Performance version fits closely to the bodies of the players, with a lighter and more stretchy technical fabric: stick to your usual size if you prefer a fitted jersey, choose the next size up for more room. The child's jersey is chosen based on actual stature rather than age, with a bit of allowance for growth, and the black shorts complete the outfit for training at the club as well as for the stands.

Frequently asked questions

What French victories against the All Blacks have marked the World Cup?

The semi-final in 1999 at Twickenham, won 43 to 31 by the Blues who were fourteen points down in the second half, the quarter-final in 2007 at Cardiff, won 20 to 18, and the opening match of 2023 at Stade de France, ending in a 27 to 13 victory.

Have the Black Ferns ever won the World Cup?

Yes, the New Zealand women's team was crowned for the first time in 1998, and several times afterwards, including the final contested in 2022 in Auckland against England. They are among the most decorated teams in women's rugby.

Is New Zealand also successful in rugby sevens?

Yes. The Black Ferns Sevens won Olympic gold in Tokyo, during the 2020 Games held in 2021, and then in Paris in 2024. The All Blacks Sevens, silver medallists in Tokyo, are also among the major teams on the world circuit.

What is the Ranfurly Shield?

A trophy created in 1902 that is contested by New Zealand provinces. It's not won at the end of a tournament: its holder puts it on the line during their home matches, and the team that beats them takes it home, making each defence feel like a final.

Which players have made history with the All Blacks?

Colin Meads, legendary second-row from the sixties, Jonah Lomu, who burst onto the world stage during the 1995 World Cup, Richie McCaw, captain of the titles in 2011 and 2015, and Dan Carter, fly-half who finished his career in France at Racing 92.
