The Ultra, the lightest shoe from Puma
The Ultra is the speed range from Puma, launched in 2020 to bring together everything that saves weight into one model. Since 2022, the Ultimate versions use ULTRAWEAVE, a very fine and stretchable technical fabric that reduces both weight and friction while holding the foot in place. The sole is rigid and responsive, returning energy with every step. On a rugby field, this profile appeals to wingers and backs whose role is to find space, break through, and finish plays: the lightness is especially felt in the last twenty meters.

Ultimate, Pro, Match or Play: which Ultra to choose
The levels differ by the upper and sole. The Ultra Ultimate is the lightest, with its ULTRAWEAVE upper and the thinnest sole: a match model, for a fast and demanding player. The Pro is similar but uses slightly thicker materials. The Ultra Match prioritises robustness for training and playing every week, while the Play, which is simpler, is suited for beginners. The LL versions, without laces, are also available for children: their elastic upper makes them easy to put on and they won’t come undone during play. All share the same narrow shape designed for speed.
A narrow fit: size and ground type
The Ultra fits close to the foot and narrow, a deliberate choice to limit foot movement inside the shoe. A slim foot will be held perfectly; a wide foot may need to size up by half a size or look for a more forgiving range. It should be tried on at the end of the day, with match socks. Its FG/AG sole, with moulded studs, is suitable for dry grass and artificial turf but lacks grip on a soggy pitch. For maintenance, its very fine textile upper can be cleaned with lukewarm water and a soft brush, without scrubbing hard, then air dried away from any source of heat.
