Our selection of children's rugby knee pads protects young players' knees from impacts, scrapes, and turf burns, featuring the Endurance Protech sold in pairs. Soft and washable supports, compliant with the rules of the game, useful on synthetic pitches as well as during recovery after injury, along with our size and care guidelines.
Protecting the knees of the youngest.
In rugby, the knee takes the falls from tackles, slides on the ground in rucks, and repeated pressure. On artificial grass, each contact with the ground can cause a friction burn, which is more painful and slower to heal than a graze on grass. The padded knee guard acts as a barrier between the kneecap and the playing surface. The Endurance Protech, sold in pairs, cover both knees identically, a useful detail since a child can fall on either side.
Child protections also come in different forms:
All child protections are listed on the child protections page.
World Rugby allows washable supports made from elastic or compressible materials, which includes knee guards made from stretch fabric or neoprene and soft foams. A brace with rigid or metal supports may, on the other hand, be rejected by the referee, who is the sole judge of any equipment deemed dangerous. For a child, a soft knee guard is chosen, without hard parts, which protects without risking injury to a teammate or an opponent during contact on the ground.
The knee measurement is taken around the middle of the kneecap, with the leg slightly bent, and then the size is chosen from the brand's guide. A well-fitted knee guard doesn’t slip down to the calf during running and leaves no marks on the hollow of the knee after the session. As children grow quickly, the fit should be checked at the start of each term. After use, it should be turned inside out to air out, then hand washed in lukewarm water and dried flat, away from a heat source that could harden the neoprene or foam.
Good deals can be found in promotions, sales, clearance, Black Friday. Items shipped in 24 hours are prepared and sent within 24 hours. The highlights of the year follow a steady order: Black Friday at the end of autumn, the holiday season, winter sales, the French Days in spring, then summer sales and back-to-school.
Put it on through the foot, leg straight, then centre the padded part on the kneecap before bending the knee. It should stay in place after a few bends: if it twists or slides down, the size is too big.
It is a model that is either perforated or reinforced around the kneecap to stabilize it, often recommended in cases of pain at the front of the knee. For children, it should be chosen based on medical advice, as protection against impacts calls for a padded model.
On a soft natural lawn, many children do without them. They become interesting on a dry and hard pitch at the end of summer or on an artificial surface, where grazes are more frequent.
Pain below the kneecap, common in sporty children, such as Osgood-Schlatter disease, require medical advice and suitable rest. A knee guard can only cushion direct impacts on the sensitive area.
Forwards, who are more often on the ground in rucks and mauls, benefit more from them. Backs mainly wear them on hard or synthetic surfaces, where diving to score easily grazes the skin.
