Our shorts Serge Blanco page brings together, when available, the shorts and bermudas from the Toulouse brand founded with the former France rugby full-back: cotton fabrics, relaxed cuts and summer colours. It tells the story of the brand and provides our size, length and care tips to keep vibrant colours through washes.
The Serge Blanco shorts.
Before becoming a brand, Serge Blanco was a fullback: born in Caracas in 1958, he moved to Biarritz as a child and spent his entire career at Biarritz Olympique, winning ninety-three caps for the French team between 1980 and 1991, scoring thirty-eight tries. In the early nineties, Toulouse entrepreneur Jean-Jacques Lauby suggested linking his name to a clothing line. Initially focused on a single item, the brand quickly expanded to a complete men's wardrobe, including summer shorts and bermudas, and opened its first shops in 1994.

The chino bermuda, made from cotton twill, is the dressiest summer piece: its belt loops, slanted pockets, and knee-length fit match the brand's casual chic spirit. The relaxed shorts, shorter, often with an elasticated waistband and made from lightweight cotton, are ideal for home, the beach, or afternoons near a pitch. In between the two, classic canvas shorts stop above the knee and can be worn in the city as well as on holiday. As for colour: beige and navy for versatility, bright shades for a more summery look.
A well-chosen bermuda should stop above the kneecap without covering it: if it's too long, it shortens the silhouette. Measure your waist size where you wear the belt and compare it to the brand's size guide; a fitted cut may require going up a size if you have muscular thighs. To keep the colours bright, wash the bermuda inside out at 30 degrees, with like colours, and prefer air drying, as direct sunlight can fade cotton. A steam iron, used on the reverse, will restore the drape to the legs.
Great deals can be found in promotions, clearance, sales, and Black Friday. The new arrivals showcase the latest collections. Items shipped in 24h are prepared and dispatched within 24 hours. The highlights of the year follow a steady order: Black Friday at the end of autumn, the holiday season, the winter sales, the French Days in spring, followed by summer sales and back-to-school.
No, the former fullback lent his name and image to the brand created with Jean-Jacques Lauby in the early nineties. The business is owned by the Lauby family and remains based in Toulouse.
That of the semi-final of the 1987 World Cup in Sydney, scored in the closing minutes against Australia after a long team play. It qualified France for the final against the All Blacks.
The bermuda, longer and often made from chino fabric, looks more polished and is better suited for the city or restaurants. The shorter shorts are perfect for beach days and hot weather.
Sunlight and hot water are the two enemies of bright colours: wash at low temperatures, inside out, and dry out of direct sunlight. A detergent for colours also helps reduce the wear of pigments.
They may lose a bit of length if washed in hot water or put in the dryer, especially during the first washes. At 30 degrees and with natural drying, cotton maintains its original dimensions.
