Champion of France in 1935, 1939, 2002, 2005 and 2006

The Biarritz Olympique was born in 1913 from the merger of Biarritz Stade and Biarritz Sporting Club. Champion of France in 1935 and 1939, it experienced its golden age at the start of the professional era, winning three Boucliers de Brennus in 2002, 2005, and 2006. In Europe, the BO reached the European Cup final in 2006, losing to Munster, then in 2010 to Stade Toulousain, before winning the Challenge européen in 2012. Two years later, in 2014, the club left the top flight, returning only for one season.

Aguiléra, the ocean and the great evenings at Anoeta

The BO plays at the Aguiléra sports park, just a few hundred metres from the ocean, a venue with around thirteen thousand five hundred seats. For its biggest European matches, the club has crossed the border to play in San Sebastián, at the Anoeta stadium, which can accommodate more than thirty thousand spectators. These evenings in the Spanish Basque Country, on the other side of the Bidassoa, have left a mark on the supporters and affirmed the Basque identity of the club, which claims its heritage from both sides of the border. At Aguiléra, the proximity of the stands to the pitch makes all the difference.

Serge Blanco, the legendary full-back of BO

Serge Blanco played his entire career at Biarritz Olympique until 1992, mostly as a full-back. A French international with ninety-three caps, he is famous for his daring runs from his own half and for the try that qualified France for the final of the 1987 World Cup, in the semi-final against Australia in Sydney. Once his career was over, he became president of the club and helped its return to the forefront, crowned by titles in the 2000s. His name remains inseparable from the red and white jersey.
