Our treadmill page helps you choose a treadmill according to your goals, based on the available models: maximum speed, running surface, cushioning, incline, and folding. For the rugby player, it's the tool that allows you to run all year round, precisely manage interval training, and safely return to running after an injury.
Run in all weathers.
The treadmill allows you to run regardless of the weather, with a speed shown to the nearest tenth of a kilometre per hour. For a rugby player, it’s the perfect tool for interval training: fifteen seconds fast, fifteen seconds slow, or thirty-second repetitions at target speed. The backs maintain their running speed, while the forwards work on their ability to sustain efforts. During a comeback after injury, the physiotherapist can set up a precise progression, without turns or changes in footing, before returning to the field.

Without wind or air resistance, running on a treadmill costs a little less energy than outdoors. A study by Jones and Doust, published in 1996, showed that a one percent incline compensates for this difference at speeds between about ten and ten-eight kilometres per hour. Beyond that, the incline is used to work on hills: it strengthens the calves, hamstrings, and glutes while raising the heart rate without increasing speed, thus resulting in fewer impacts. Motorized models adjust the incline while running; others are set to a fixed level.
A heavy player puts more strain on the machine: we look at the continuous power of the motor, which is more indicative than peak power, and the maximum supported weight. To run, a running surface of at least one hundred thirty centimetres by forty-five allows for a free stride; walking requires less. Good cushioning minimizes shocks to the knees and ankles. In terms of safety, the magnetic key connected to the runner cuts off the treadmill in case of a fall, and you should keep two metres clear behind the machine.
Good bargains can be found in the good deals, promotions, clearance, sales, Black Friday. The new arrivals showcase the latest collections, and items shipped within 24 hours are prepared and dispatched in 24 hours. The highlights of the year follow a stable order: Black Friday in late autumn, the year-end holidays, the winter sales, the French Days in spring, followed by the summer sales and back-to-school season.
For regular running, prioritize a motor with sufficient continuous power, a long enough belt, and good cushioning. In a small space, a foldable model with hydraulic assistance can be easily lifted after the session.
Foldable models are suitable for walking and moderate running. For intense and frequent sessions or a heavier user, a non-foldable treadmill offers a more stable frame and a wider belt.
The walking treadmill, compact and often lacking supports, is limited to slow paces. The running treadmill, longer and more powerful, allows for running and varying paces, which is required for rugby training.
Gently lift the belt to apply the manufacturer's recommended silicone lubricant underneath, then run the treadmill at a slow speed for a few minutes. The frequency, indicated in the manual, depends on the hours of usage.
Some place wedges under the front feet, but this maneuver can destabilize the frame and compromise the warranty. It's better to choose an adjustable incline model, either manual or motorized, from the start.
