The colours of English clubs

The jerseys of Premiership are among the most recognizable in rugby. Leicester Tigers play in green, red, and white, Bath in blue, white, and black, and the Northampton Saints in black, green, and gold. Gloucester wears cherry and white hoops, and the Saracens wear black and red. The Harlequins sport the most unique jersey in the league: a quartered design in six colours, light blue, magenta, chocolate, grey, light green, and black, inherited from the nineteenth century and instantly recognizable from the first glance in any stadium.

From the Courage League to the Twickenham final

The English championship was born in 1987 under the name of the Courage League, before becoming the Premiership with the shift to professionalism. Since 2003, the title has been decided in knockout stages, concluded by a final at Twickenham, the temple of English rugby. Bath won there in 2025 against Leicester, ending nearly thirty years of waiting, one year after Northampton's triumph against this same Bath. Leicester remains the most decorated club of the professional era, ahead of the Saracens and the Wasps.

English cup sizes: what to choose

The jerseys of English clubs often follow a British size, which is closer to the body than a French cut of the same size. For a jersey worn in the stands, one size up from usual provides the necessary ease for the shoulders and chest. Player versions, which are quite fitted, are designed to hug the skin: they are only chosen in one's exact size if that second-skin effect is desired. English children's sizes are generally expressed in age ranges, like seven-eight years, to be checked in centimetres on the guide.
