Euskarians, the rugby from the Basque Country
The Euskarians page is dedicated to the Basque rugby team, created in 1997 to bring together players from the French and Spanish Basque Country under one jersey. A selection born in 1997 between Iparralde and Hegoalde
The Euskarians were created in 1997 with a simple idea: to bring together rugby players from Iparralde, the northern Basque Country, on the French side, and from Hegoalde, the southern Basque Country, on the Spanish side. The team is not a national selection recognised by World Rugby: it plays games without ranking stakes, which aim to promote Basque rugby internationally and strengthen ties between clubs separated by the border, but united by language, songs, and traditions.

Ulster at Anoeta, Uruguay at Getxo: the big matches
On 6 June 1998, the Euskarians opened rugby at the stade d'Anoeta in San Sebastián, facing the Irish province of Ulster, in front of around six thousand spectators. In September 2015, they welcomed Uruguay at Getxo, who were preparing for their World Cup and won 41 to 19. These encounters remain rare, giving them a sense of occasion: Basque songs, flags, and stands filled with supporters from Bayonne, Biarritz, San Sebastián, or Bilbao cheering for the same team.
Red, green and white: the colours of the ikurriña
The supporters of the Euskarians wear the colours of the ikurriña, the Basque flag designed in 1894 by the Arana brothers: a red background, a green Saint Andrew's cross, and a white cross. These three colours are found on the team's kits and in the stands of Jean-Dauger and Aguiléra.
