The Springboks' kit, from jersey to hoodie

South Africa is presented here from head to toe, in the outfit designed by Nike, the Springboks' kit supplier since July 2023 after an initial collaboration from 1996 to 2003. The home jersey features the historical green and gold colours of the team, and is also available in long sleeves for autumn evenings, while the away jersey changes colour with each edition. Alongside the jersey, the home and away t-shirts, polo shirt, and training top dress the supporter daily; the hoodie, its half-zip collar variant, and the sleeveless puffer jacket take over in the stands when the cold sets in.

Four nations and as many trophies at stake

The Rugby Championship pits New Zealand, South Africa, Australia, and Argentina against each other every year. It extends the Tri-Nations, played from 1996 to 2011 between the first three, and took its name in 2012 with the arrival of the Pumas. Several contests also feature a trophy: the Bledisloe Cup, offered in 1931 by Lord Bledisloe, Governor-General of New Zealand, is contested between All Blacks and Wallabies; the Freedom Cup has pitted New Zealanders against South Africans since 2004, in tribute to ten years of South African democracy; and the Mandela Challenge Plate has brought Australians and Springboks together since 2000.

Supporter or authentic version: which jersey to choose

The Springboks' away jersey comes in two fits. The supporter version, which is looser, is worn daily or in the stands, over a t-shirt; the authentic version, worn by the players, has a snug cut and a more technical fabric designed to wick sweat and withstand contact. For this last one, many supporters choose a size up from their usual size. The end-of-line items in this sale often exist only in a few sizes: it's best to compare your measurements with the brand's guide before ordering. A printed jersey should be washed inside out, at thirty degrees, and dried flat.

Other good deals

Good deals can also be found in the good deals, sales, and Black Friday. The new arrivals showcase the latest collections. The highlights of the year follow a stable order: the Black Friday at the end of autumn, the end-of-year holidays, the winter sales, the French Days in spring, then the summer sales and the back-to-school season.

Frequently asked questions

How does the Rugby Championship work?

Each nation faces the other three, at home and away, and the standings are based on points, with offensive and defensive bonuses. In World Cup years, the competition is often played in a reduced format, with one match against each opponent.

Why are South Africans called the Springboks?

The springbok is an antelope from Southern Africa, adopted as a nickname during the team's tour of Great Britain in 1906. The name has stuck ever since, and the animal is still featured on the green and gold jersey.

When did South Africa become world champions?

The Springboks lifted the World Cup in 1995 at home, then in 2007 in France, in 2019 in Japan, and again in 2023 in France. They are, along with New Zealand and Australia, one of the nations to have won it multiple times.

Where does the nickname Wallabies come from?

It originated during the Australian tour of Great Britain in 1908: the players preferred the wallaby, a smaller cousin of the kangaroo, to the nickname given to them by the local press. The animal has since become inseparable from the Australian team.

How to care for a sleeveless puffer jacket?

Wash it at a low temperature, with the zipper up, following the label instructions, and without fabric softener which clumps the filling. A gentle drying, with two tennis balls in the drum if permitted by the label, restores its fluffiness.
