This selection brings together the training trousers Canterbury, created by the brand founded in New Zealand in 1904 and still dedicated to rugby. Designed for warm-ups, winter sessions and travel, they focus on the in-house materials: VapoDri to wick away sweat, VapoShield to keep moisture at bay, and Thermoreg to retain body heat.
The training trousers from Canterbury.
Born in the New Zealand province from which it takes its name, Canterbury has kept an office in Auckland but has established its global headquarters in London. Acquired in 2012 by the British group Pentland, it remains true to its motto, Committed To The Game, and its sport of origin. After dressing England from 2012 to 2020, it has been equipping Iceland since 2014, as well as Japan, and also provides training kits for these teams. A strong presence at the highest level that feeds into the design of its shorts for clubs.
Training pants also come in:
All training pants are grouped on the training pants page.
The training pants Canterbury must face the cold, rain, and mud of winter pitches. The VapoShield technology helps keep you dry during wet sessions, while the Thermoreg maintains body heat in a stable range and allows air to circulate, so you don't overheat as the pace picks up. On lighter models, VapoDri wicks sweat and dries quickly, an advantage when doing two training sessions in a week and needing to have the gear ready in time.
A tapered fit, which narrows from the knee to the ankle, prevents the fabric from getting caught in the studs during speed drills. Ankle zips, when the model has them, allow you to take off the pants without untying your shoes before stepping onto the pitch. For the size, you start with the waist measurement and check the leg length: taller players, often found in the second row, should pay attention to the inseam indicated. A cold wash without fabric softener preserves the effectiveness of the fabric's technical treatments.
Good deals can be found in the good deals, promotions, clearance, sales, and Black Friday. The new arrivals showcase the latest collections, and items shipped in 24h are prepared and dispatched within 24 hours. The key events of the year follow a stable order: Black Friday at the end of autumn, the holiday season, the winter sales, the French Days in spring, then the summer sales and back-to-school period.
Three kiwi silhouettes, the emblematic bird of New Zealand, which together form the letters CCC. They recall the Canterbury Clothing Company and its three founders, John Lane, Pringle Walker, and Alfred Rudkin.
Since 1904. The company first produced wool garments, then military uniforms during World War I, before establishing itself in rugby by dressing the All Blacks for over seventy-five years.
It is suitable for sessions in drizzle or on damp ground, but does not replace a full rain garment under prolonged downpours. For guidelines in bad weather, an additional layer should be added at the edge of the pitch.
When standing, the hem should just touch the top of the shoe without bunching. An excess of fabric rubs against the studs and wears out quickly; if the hem is too short, it rides up in a split or scrum position and lets in the cold.
Pants alone are sufficient for warm-ups and winter sessions. The matching jacket and trousers set is mainly for travel and post-match receptions when the club wants to present a uniform image.
